Adyn Wang Studio Adyn Wang is a cognitive designer from China who graduated from the Integrated Design program at Tama Art University in Japan. During university, Adyn focused on exploring new forms of interaction and expression in physical media such as paper. He is particularly interested in the unique physicality of tangible materials, striving to create new ways to “play” and discover joy in everyday objects. Rather than centering his design practice on people, Adyn often focuses on designing for “things” themselves. While he acknowledges that clear target users are important, he believes that a human-centered approach is not always ideal. Instead of relying on highly subjective perspectives, he emphasizes the “intrinsic properties of materials” and the “fundamental cognitive mechanisms people use to perceive objects.” Adyn pursues designs that are simple and universal. In his creative process, he pays close attention to the mechanisms of human decision-making and behavioral change, using them as the basis for his research. He believes that the experience of joy can transcend language, age, or level of knowledge, and can be found in daily life—delivering moments of surprise and delight that resonate with everyone.
